Today Monday,April 12, 2021 a press confrence was held at the medial center of National stadium, package ‘ A .’ Essentially to refute the publication in the Saturday, 10 April,2021 edition of Blueprint Weekend Newspaper. With caption “Soccer Fans, Others lamented S360m MKO Abiola National Stadium Still in Ruins”
In His presentation Engr. Alanamu Abolore Who represented the Hon. Minister of Federal Ministry of Youth And Sports Development , Hon. Sunday Dare, submitted that the Publication by Blueprint Weekend Newspaper of 10th April is false and urged the Public to disregard it in its entirety.
According to Engr. Alanamu,since the advent of the current administration, spirited efforts have been made to ensure the Stadium and other Component facilities are upgraded. And made available to the public for optimal service delivery.
He said the Ministry recently launched the rehabilitation of the main bowl by handling over the facility to Dangote Group of Companies under the well public acclaimed applauded “Adopt -A – Pitch” policy drive of the Honourable Minister of Youths And Sports Development. Dangote Group has adopted the main bowl of the National Stadium Abuja. Presently rehabilitation work is on- going under the sponsorship of Dangote.
He mentioned that apart from the main bowl .All other component facilities of the Stadium were used for the just concluded ” One Service, One Medal Games (OSOM Game). Which is the Military and Para Military Officers Games.
The Velodrum was also used for OSOM Games recentl. And its currently being used for athletes training on daily basis by the cycling and taekwondo Federations of Nigeria among others.
The Swimming Pool is in good shape. It was used for competition during OSOM Games. And it is also on schedule daily routine session by Acquatic Federation of Nigeria. Also, It is opened for public use.
The 200 hundred rooms hostel has been slated for concession and the process is on- going .
Engr. Alanamu used the opportunity to introduce the representative of contracting firms( M/s ARON NIG LTD). As the company that is handling the rehabilitation of the Main-bowl pitch and Installation of Scoreboard.
